Rome’s Internazionali d’Italia, also known as the Rome Masters or Italian Open, takes place every year in May at Foro Italico.

The history of Italian Open

In 1930, at Tennis Club Milano, the International Tennis Championships of Italy were held for the first time, born from the passion of Count Alberto Bonacossa.

After only five years, the event was moved to the Foro Italico in Rome, a facility designed by Enrico Del Debbio, consisting of various structures such as the Stadium of the Marbles and the Stadium of the Cypresses.

Since 1935, the Internazionali have left the Rome venue only three times: in 1961, when the Sporting Club in Turin was chosen, and in the 1980s, when only the women’s matches were moved, once to Perugia and once to Taranto.

The Italian Open is the second-best clay court tournament after the prestigious Roland Garros.
2024 Italian Open

The countdown to the 2024 Internazionali BNL d’Italia has already begun, and like every year, the red clay will attract millions of spectators.

The 81st edition will take place over 2 weeks, from Monday, May 6 to Sunday, May 19, 2024, with 96 male players and 96 female players, with over 300 matches.

On May 6th and 7th, the tournament will start with the matches valid for the qualifiers and the first 10 matches of the women’s main draw, while from May 8th onwards, there will be all the matches of the main draws of the ATP Masters 1000 and the WTA 1000.

Spectators who participate in this great event will have the great opportunity to admire the reigning champion Medvedev and legends like Djokovic, Murray, and Nadal, the player with the most titles in the history of the Italian Open.
