Also for this year, the start and finish will be at the Imperial Forums, a 5-minute walk from the FH55 Hotel Palatino.
The route takes place entirely in the historic center of Rome and winds along the Tiber river, crossing four bridges of the Tiber River.
The start is in Via dei Fori Imperiali, a very spacious avenue that allows the many participants to start the race without congestion.
The classic route sees the passage through symbolic places of the Capital.
It passes through the majestic Circus Maximus up to the walls of Castel Sant’Angelo and takes Via della Conciliazione, which leads up to the front of St. Peter’s Basilica.
It reaches the Viale del Foro Italico and arrives in Piazza Navona to the south, passing the Pantheon and then arriving at Piazza di Spagna, dominated by the famous Spanish Steps leading to Trinità dei Monti.
Minor streets lead to the Trevi Fountain, in a pedestrian area paved with cobblestones that is the most tortuous stretch of the marathon.
The route leads to the Pyramid of Cestius and then to the Colosseum along the Viale dei Fori Imperiali, until it reaches the finish line.
